Preparation

  • Take wheat flour in a bowl. Add ghee and mix. Add little water and make a semi soft dough. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  • Heat the khoya in a non-stick pan and mix until it melts. Add dates, sugar free mix and cook until slightly soft.
  • Add cardamom powder and mix. Add coconut, mix and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat, add almonds, walnuts and mix well. Transfer to a plate and cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 180º C.
  • Divide the dough into equal middle portions.
  • Grease the worktop with a little ghee and roll each portion to form a semi-thick sheet. Cut each sheet into rounds using a large cookie cutter.
  • Place a little khoya mixture in the center of each round, apply some water on the edges of the round, fold into a moon shape, press the edges to seal and twist to make a gujiya pattern.
  • Place the gujia on a baking tray and brush some ghee on top.
  • Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven and cool slightly.
  • Store in an airtight jar and serve with a cold drink or hot tea!
