The Elegant Design of Jalsa

Jalsa's Interior Marry Global Influences with Indian Regality

Jalsa is a spacious two-story bungalow surrounded by lush grounds. One of its most striking features is the abundance of French windows that enhance the openness of the space, allowing natural light to flood in. The interiors are adorned with grand chandeliers and intricate rugs, some of which are believed to originate from Turkey, alongside exquisite Baroque art pieces. In addition to the bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms, Jalsa includes two private study rooms and a well-equipped home gym, as reported by various sources.

A Private Oasis in the City

An Enclosed Outer Space

While many complain about the limited space in Mumbai homes, Jalsa stands out with its expansive lawns that provide a serene escape. The property is beautifully landscaped with greenery and trees, ensuring privacy for the Bachchan family amidst the constant attention from fans and media. The soft, warm lighting creates a tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for stargazing, as shared by family members, including grandchildren Agastya Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda.

The Legacy of Jalsa

The Story Behind Jalsa

Interestingly, the name 'Jalsa' is closely associated with Amitabh Bachchan, but he did not purchase this property himself. It was a gift from director Ramesh Sippy, who was so impressed by Bachchan's performance in the 1982 film 'Satte Pe Satta' that he presented the bungalow to him. Initially, the property was registered under Ramola Bachchan, the wife of Big B's brother Ajitabh Bachchan. In 2006, the ownership was transferred to Jaya Bachchan.

The name 'Jalsa' translates to celebration, and its history, from being a gift to becoming a landmark in Mumbai, reflects the immense stardom of Amitabh Bachchan, which is well-known and celebrated.
