Residents of Patna, the capital city of Bihar, can now embark on a delightful cruise experience along the River Ganges. The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has relaunched its renowned 'Ganga Vihar Cruise Service' with a fresh and contemporary design. The service officially resumed for tourists on Monday, with regular operations scheduled for Saturday and Sunday evenings during the summer season.
Luxurious Amenities Await
This newly managed double-decker cruise features an appealing interior and top-notch amenities. It can host up to 65 guests at once. The lower deck includes a fully air-conditioned dining area where visitors can indulge in exquisite meals. The upper deck, on the other hand, offers an open-sky experience along with a vibrant dance floor, making it a perfect spot for families and young people alike.
Cruise Schedule and Pricing
The Ganga Vihar cruise sets sail every Saturday and Sunday at 5:00 PM from the historic Gandhi Ghat in Patna. The route takes passengers to Gaighat and back, with the journey lasting one and a half hours, concluding at 6:30 PM. The ticket price for this experience is ₹899 per person, which includes 'high tea' and snacks.
A Unique Experience Awaits
During the cruise, guests will enjoy a unique combination of spirituality and modern entertainment. They will have the opportunity to witness the famous Ganga Aarti while enjoying soothing recorded music on board. Special guides will also be present to narrate stories about Patna's rich cultural heritage.
Special Packages for Groups
In addition to individual tickets, special packages are available for groups or families looking to reserve the entire cruise for private events like birthdays or gatherings. The hourly rental rate for the cruise is set at ₹22,500, which covers the cruise fare, security crew fees, and GST. For a special three-hour package, the rates are ₹3,200, ₹2,945, and ₹2,550 per person for groups of 20, 40, and 60, respectively, including meals and refreshments.
Supporting Local Entrepreneurs
The Bihar government has introduced a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing tourism while supporting local entrepreneurs. Startups recognized by Bihar's Department of Industries (DPIIIT) will be granted complimentary space on the cruise for conducting business meetings, providing a unique corporate setting for new businesses in the state.
