Shahnaz Hussain's Skin Care Recommendations

Shahnaz Hussain's Skin Tips: The monsoon season is upon us, bringing with it a refreshing ambiance filled with vibrant greenery and gentle rains. However, as the rains cease, the humidity levels soar, leading to uncomfortable mugginess and excessive perspiration.

Venturing outdoors in such humid weather often results in a sweaty experience. This high humidity can also negatively impact the skin, causing discomfort and even leading to dryness and cracking. To address these issues, esteemed beauty expert Shahnaz Hussain offers some simple and cost-effective remedies. These homemade skin lotions can help maintain your skin's softness and hydration.

DIY Skin Lotions

Plain Aloe Vera: To combat humidity, applying fresh aloe vera pulp directly to your face can be beneficial. Aloe vera is known for its protective properties against sun damage. Simply cut a leaf from the plant, scoop out the gel, apply it to your skin, and rinse off with water after some time. It serves as an excellent remedy for sunburn.

Cucumber and Rose Water: Cucumber is a fantastic skin care ingredient that can be transformed into a homemade sunscreen. Start by grating a cucumber and extracting its juice. Mix this juice with rose water to create a soothing solution that can be used like sunscreen. Cucumber's cooling properties help restore skin softness.

Coconut and Olive Oil: A sunscreen blend of coconut and olive oil is highly effective. Combine 15 drops of olive oil with half a cup of coconut oil, then add 7 drops of carrot seed oil and store the mixture in a glass bottle for long-term use.

Shea Butter and Almond Oil: In a glass bowl, mix two tablespoons of almond oil with one tablespoon each of shea butter and cocoa butter, a Vitamin E capsule, and half a teaspoon of zinc oxide. Blend well and keep it in an airtight container. Apply this mixture 15–20 minutes before going outside.

Aloe Vera and Shea Butter: For this sunscreen, combine 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel, 1–2 teaspoons of coconut oil, 3–4 teaspoons of shea butter, and 3–4 teaspoons of zinc oxide in a bowl until creamy. Store it in a plastic container in the fridge and reapply every two hours. Aloe vera gel hydrates and cools the skin.

Vitamin E and Zinc Oxide: To create this sunscreen, mix 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel, 4–5 drops of Vitamin E oil, 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil, and 2–3 teaspoons of zinc oxide in a glass bowl until creamy. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and apply every two to three hours as needed. Zinc oxide effectively blocks UVA and UVB rays.

Walnut Oil Sunscreen: For this recipe, combine 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel, 25–30 drops of walnut oil, 1 cup of shea butter, 2–3 teaspoons of coconut oil, and 2–3 teaspoons of zinc oxide in a glass bowl until creamy, then refrigerate. This cream nourishes the skin while providing sun protection.

Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera: To make this lotion, mix four tablespoons of aloe vera gel with four tablespoons of coconut oil in a glass bowl until creamy. Add a few drops of rose or sandalwood oil for fragrance. Store in a glass jar and apply generously to your face, neck, and hands 15 to 20 minutes before going out, reapplying every 2 to 3 hours.

Importance of Sunscreen

Use Sunscreen Too: Shahnaz Hussain emphasizes the necessity of sunscreen to shield your skin from humidity during the monsoon. However, these natural alternatives can also enhance your skin's resilience. They not only improve your complexion's radiance but also offer lasting benefits. Utilizing natural ingredients available at home can often be more effective than commercial sunscreens, all while being budget-friendly.
