Essential Items to Remove from Your Home Before Diwali
Preparing for Diwali: What to Clear Out
Diwali is a festival that everyone looks forward to, and the preparations often start well in advance. A significant part of this preparation involves cleaning the home thoroughly. However, during this process, many people inadvertently keep certain items that should actually be discarded.
It is believed that if you retain certain items, Goddess Lakshmi may not bless your home, leading to negativity and financial struggles. So, what should you remove from your home before the festival?
Items to Eliminate for a Positive Atmosphere
To invite Goddess Lakshmi and promote positive energy during Diwali, Vastu Shastra recommends the removal of the following items from your home:
Damaged Idols and Images – Keeping broken idols or pictures in your home shrine is deemed inauspicious according to Vastu Shastra. Their presence can amplify negative energy and disturb spiritual harmony. It is advisable to immerse such items in a sacred river or place them beneath a Peepal tree before Diwali.
Stopped or Broken Clocks – Clocks that are not functioning are also discouraged in the home. They symbolize misfortune and can obstruct progress. During your cleaning, either dispose of these clocks or have them repaired, as their presence can hinder family advancement.
Old and Torn Footwear – Vastu Shastra warns against keeping worn-out or damaged footwear in the house, as they can generate negative energy affecting family members. It is best to remove such items immediately.
Broken Glass and Utensils – Additionally, cracked utensils or broken glass should not be kept in your home. Retaining these items can lead to Vastu dosha (defects) and should be removed promptly to avoid financial issues.
