As per the Hindu calendar, this observance occurs on Jyeshtha Amavasya, the New Moon day in the month of Jyeshtha. On this auspicious day, married women engage in fasting and worship to seek *Akhand Saubhagya*, which translates to uninterrupted marital happiness and lasting prosperity. The rituals of Vat Savitri Vrat prominently feature a bamboo hand-fan and the fruit of the Banyan tree, both of which are vital to the ceremony. It is recommended to gather all necessary items for the worship ahead of time.
Importance of the 'Bena' (Hand-Fan) in Vat Savitri Vrat:
In various regions, it is customary to include a 'Bena' (hand-fan) in the Vat Savitri Vrat rituals. This fan, made from bamboo, is used by women to fan their husbands after the worship concludes.
According to tradition, when Lord Yamraj (the God of Death) revived Satyavan, he was left exhausted and overheated. During the hot month of Jyeshtha, Savitri crafted a fan from bamboo leaves to provide him relief.
