Emotional Tribute in Upcoming War Biopic 'Ikkis' Following Dharmendra's Passing

Raghavan shared that Dharmendra, who was unwell during the final dubbing sessions in October, never had the opportunity to view the complete film. “I met him in October. He seemed okay, but his health was declining. He managed to watch the first half and was eager for the second half. I wished for him to see the entire film, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen,” the director expressed. “It’s a regret that he isn’t here to witness the appreciation for his work.”

Reflecting on Dharmendra’s dedication, Raghavan noted that the actor would prepare by writing his dialogues in Urdu before filming and even crafted lines for the lead actor. “He was very traditional and exceptionally well-prepared,” he remarked.

Producer Vijan mentioned that Dharmendra’s family has yet to view 'Ikkis'. “I believe they will be overwhelmed with emotion. It’s heartbreaking to see their grief, yet it’s also beautiful,” he commented.

The film also represents a significant moment for the Bachchan family. Amitabh Bachchan attended a recent screening and later penned a heartfelt blog post commending his grandson Agastya Nanda’s performance. He reminisced about Agastya’s birth and expressed pride in seeing him on screen, stating that he watched the film with “tears of joy and pride.”

“When he is on screen, he commands your attention,” Bachchan wrote, clarifying that this was not just a grandfather’s opinion but that of a seasoned cinema enthusiast. He praised the film’s writing and direction, noting that the experience left him speechless with emotion.

Amitabh was accompanied by his son Abhishek Bachchan at the screening, with Agastya’s sister Navya Naveli Nanda also in attendance.

In addition to Nanda and the late Dharmendra, 'Ikkis' features performances from Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Dev. As it approaches its New Year 2026 release, the film serves as both a tribute to a celebrated war hero and a heartfelt farewell to one of Hindi cinema’s most cherished figures.
