Charges Filed Against Ex-Eminem Employee

A former staff member of the Grammy-winning artist Eminem has been charged for allegedly leaking unreleased tracks online. According to US Attorney Julie Beck, Joseph Strange, who was employed by the rapper from 2007 until 2021, faces significant legal issues, including charges of copyright infringement and the interstate transport of stolen property.

The investigation commenced in January when an employee at Eminem's studio in Ferndale, Michigan, noticed that unreleased music was being sold on various platforms.

Upon recognizing that the music had been taken directly from a studio hard drive, the employee alerted the FBI.

The tracks, which were still in progress, were found for sale, prompting law enforcement to investigate further. The FBI's pursuit of individuals who had bought the leaked music ultimately led them to Joseph Strange, identified as the source of the sales.

If found guilty of copyright infringement, Strange could face a maximum of five years in prison and a fine reaching $250,000. Furthermore, he could be sentenced to up to ten years for the interstate transportation of stolen goods.

Eminem, who released new music last year, including the album 'The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace),' continues to impact the music scene. This album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2025 awards, while his single 'Houdini' was nominated for both Best Rap Performance and Best Music Video.
