Discovering the Hidden Gem: Kanti Waterfall in Jharkhand
A Natural Paradise in Jharkhand
Jharkhand is celebrated for its stunning landscapes, rich forests, and majestic hills. During the hot summer months, many individuals seek out serene and cool locations to escape the heat. This is when natural attractions become particularly appealing to tourists. Among these, the Kanti Waterfall in the Latehar district stands out as a remarkable and enchanting destination during the summer. Tucked away in the hills, this waterfall offers a slice of paradise.
**A Stunning Drop of 200 Feet**
Located on the border between Latehar and Lohardaga, Kanti Waterfall is renowned for its breathtaking scenery. The waterfall cascades down from a height of around 200 feet, enveloped by vibrant greenery and the gentle sound of flowing water, creating a serene atmosphere. While it reaches its full glory during the monsoon, the refreshing mist and natural setting provide a welcome escape for visitors even in the summer.
**A Favorite Picnic Spot**
This location has become a popular picnic area for locals from nearby districts such as Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, and Latehar. A notable surge in visitors occurs during New Year celebrations, but the site continues to attract tourists for leisure and sightseeing throughout the summer. Although the narrow access road can lead to some traffic delays, the waterfall remains a peaceful retreat nestled in nature.
The journey to Kanti Waterfall has seen significant improvements. Once in poor condition, the road has been repaired and is now accessible for vehicles of all sizes. The waterfall is located about 47 kilometers from Latehar and roughly 66 kilometers from Ranchi, becoming visible after a 7-kilometer drive north from Senha village along the main Ranchi-Medininagar highway.
**Lack of Basic Amenities**
Despite its tourism potential, the area lacks essential facilities. There are no proper accommodations or dining options available, and safety measures are minimal, urging visitors to be cautious. Nonetheless, Kanti Waterfall remains a peaceful haven for nature enthusiasts, offering a place to unwind and connect with the outdoors.
Manish Tiwari, a visitor from Palamu, expressed his excitement about finally visiting the waterfall he had heard about since childhood. He noted that the site exceeded his expectations in beauty. While the location has great tourism potential, it currently lacks significant amenities, requiring visitors to bring their own food and drinks. Nevertheless, it is an ideal picnic destination.
