Wheat Flour Halwa Recipe

Total Time: 20 mins
Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Course: Dessert
Servings: 2 people
Cuisine: Indian

Ingredients:
Wheat flour – 1 bowl
Desi ghee (clarified butter) – 1 bowl
Sugar – 1 bowl
Water – 3 bowls
Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Chopped dry fruits (cashews, almonds, pistachios)

Preparation Steps:

Begin by mixing 3 bowls of water with 1 bowl of sugar in a pot over medium heat. Heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely and the water is warm, then turn off the heat.

In a heavy-bottomed pan (kadhai), heat half a bowl of ghee. Once it’s hot, add the chopped cashews and almonds, roasting them until they are lightly golden, then set them aside on a plate.

Add the remaining half-bowl of ghee to the pan. When it melts, incorporate the bowl of wheat flour.

Keep the flame at medium and roast the flour while stirring constantly. You will notice the flour changing color and releasing a nutty aroma.

Continue roasting until the flour turns golden brown and starts to release ghee.

Gradually pour the hot sugar water into the pan while continuously stirring the flour to avoid lumps.

Lower the heat. The mixture will thicken in about 2–3 minutes. At this point, add the cardamom powder and the roasted nuts.

Keep stirring the halwa until it begins to pull away from the sides of the pan and a bit of ghee appears on the surface.

Once the halwa separates from the pan, turn off the heat and garnish with the dry fruits. Your delicious wheat flour halwa is now ready to serve.
