Introduction to Momo Chutney

Easy Recipe for Street-Style Momo Chutney

If you're a fan of momos and want to savor the street-style chutney at home, follow this straightforward recipe. Let’s get started!

Ingredients Needed for the Chutney
2 dried Kashmiri red chilies
2 large tomatoes
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon sugar
1 small piece of ginger
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon vinegar
Salt to taste
A little oil

Steps to Prepare the Chutney

Step 1: Boil the Red Chilies
Begin by heating water in a pot, adding the dried red chilies, and boiling them for about 7–8 minutes. This softens the chilies, making them easier to blend.

Step 2: Cook the Tomatoes
Next, boil the tomatoes until their skin starts to peel. For an added smoky flavor, you can roast the tomatoes over a gas flame, enhancing their taste.

Step 3: Cool the Ingredients
After boiling, drain the excess water from the tomatoes and chilies. Allow them to cool, then peel the tomatoes and chop them into smaller pieces.

Step 4: Blend the Ingredients
In a blender, combine the soaked red chilies, chopped tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and the remaining ingredients. Blend until you achieve a smooth puree, adding a little water if needed, but avoid making it too watery.

Step 5: Cook the Chutney
To remove any raw taste, heat a small amount of oil in a pan and add the blended puree. Cook for 2–3 minutes.

Step 6: Enjoy Your Chutney
Once cooked, turn off the heat; your street-style Momo chutney is ready to serve. This chutney can be stored for 4–5 days.
