Ingredients Needed:
1 cup all-purpose flour (or wheat flour)
1/2 cup butter
2 to 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1.5 tablespoons cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 to 2 tablespoons milk

Steps to Make Cumin Biscuits

Begin by lightly roasting the cumin seeds in a pan over low heat for 1-2 minutes until they emit a fragrant aroma. Be careful not to burn them; a light roast is sufficient.

Next, crush half of the roasted cumin seeds gently with a rolling pin, leaving the rest whole.

In a large bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Whip this mixture with a whisk or beater for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes light and creamy.

Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and the crushed cumin seeds to the bowl. Mix everything gently and incorporate 1-2 tablespoons of cold milk to create a soft dough. Remember, this dough should not be kneaded like traditional roti dough; just bring it together.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

After chilling, roll out the dough on a sheet of butter paper to a thickness of 1/4 inch and cut out cookies using a cookie cutter or a round lid.

Sprinkle some whole roasted cumin on top of the cookies and press down lightly. Bake them in a preheated oven at 170°C for 15-18 minutes.

Once baked, allow the cookies to cool completely. Your homemade cumin cookies are now ready to be enjoyed!
