Delicious Falahari Tikki Recipe for Sawan 2026 Fasting
Sawan 2026: Unique Fasting Recipe
Sawan 2026: For those participating in the Sawan Monday fast, it's common to enjoy *falahar* (foods suitable for fasting) and *sattvic* (pure and wholesome) dishes. If you're looking to break away from the typical *sabudana khichdi*, *kuttu* (buckwheat) *puri*, or potatoes, consider trying something new and tasty this season.
*Falahari Tikki* (cutlets suitable for fasting) is a fantastic choice that can be easily prepared at home. This dish is quick to make, and the ingredients are usually found in your kitchen. It can serve as a delightful breakfast or an evening snack during the Sawan Monday fast. Here’s a simple recipe for *Falahari Tikki*.
**Ingredients for Falahari Tikki**
4 Boiled potatoes
½ cup Sabudana (sago pearls)
2 tablespoons Samak flour (barnyard millet flour)
1-2 Green chilies, finely chopped
2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves
Rock salt (*Sendha Namak*) to taste
½ teaspoon Roasted cumin powder
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
Oil or ghee for cooking/frying
**How to Prepare Falahari Tikki**
Begin by washing the *sabudana* thoroughly and soaking it in water for several hours. Once it has softened, drain the excess water and set it aside. In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes well. Incorporate the soaked *sabudana*, *samak* flour, chopped green chilies, fresh coriander, rock salt, roasted cumin powder, and lemon juice into the mashed potatoes, mixing everything thoroughly.
Take small portions of the mixture and form them into round *tikkis* by gently pressing them with your palms. If the mixture is too soft or sticky, you can add a bit more *samak* flour. Heat some ghee or oil (suitable for fasting) on a *tawa* (griddle) over medium heat. Place the shaped *tikkis* on the *tawa* and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. Once cooked, serve them hot with curd, coconut chutney, or *falahari* green chutney. Ensure that all ingredients used adhere to the fasting guidelines.
