Additionally, it is commonly thought that Goddess Mahagauri has a special affinity for offerings, particularly those made from coconuts and sweets derived from them.


Coconut Barfi: A Simple Offering

To honor Goddess Mahagauri, Coconut Barfi makes an excellent offering. This sweet treat is easy to prepare with minimal ingredients. Here’s how you can make Coconut Barfi at home to present to the Goddess.


Ingredients Needed

**Ingredients**
**Coconut:** 2 cups of freshly grated coconut
**Sugar:** 1 cup (adjust according to preference)
**Milk:** 1 cup full-cream milk
**Mawa (Khoya) or Condensed Milk:** ½ cup
**Cardamom Powder:** ½ teaspoon
**Ghee (Clarified Butter):** 2 tablespoons
**Dry Fruits:** Finely chopped almonds and pistachios

Begin by heating 2 tablespoons of ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan (*Kadhai*). Add the grated coconut and roast it on low heat for 2–3 minutes, ensuring the coconut retains its color while slightly reducing moisture.


Next, pour in the milk and cook on low heat until the coconut absorbs it completely. Then, add the sugar. As the sugar dissolves, the mixture will thin out; continue stirring without concern.


Once the mixture thickens, incorporate the cardamom powder. If using *Mawa*, mash it and add it now for a market-like taste. Keep cooking until the mixture pulls away from the pan's sides and resembles kneaded dough.



Grease a plate or tray with ghee. Transfer the mixture onto the plate, spreading it evenly with a spoon or spatula. Top with chopped almonds and pistachios, pressing them gently to secure.


Allow the Barfi to cool for 2–3 hours until it sets. Once firm, cut it into squares or diamond shapes.
