Celebrate with Homemade Besan Ladoo

With Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami approaching, it's time to indulge in the tradition of making sweets. A delightful option for these festivities is *Besan Ladoo*, which are sweet balls made from gram flour.

The rich aroma of *desi ghee*, the nutty scent of roasted gram flour (*besan*), and the crunch of dry fruits make these sweets a beloved choice. Here’s how you can whip up this tasty treat at home.

**Recipe for Besan Ladoo**

**Total Time:** 45 minutes
**Preparation Time:** 15 minutes
**Cooking Time:** 30 minutes
**Course:** Dessert
**Servings:** 2 people
**Cuisine:** Indian

**Ingredients Needed:**
Gram flour (*Besan*): 2 cups
*Desi Ghee* (Clarified butter): 1/2 cup
*Boora* or *Tagar* (Powdered sugar): 1 cup
Green cardamom powder: 1 teaspoon
Cashews and almonds: 2 tablespoons
Pistachios: 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)

**Instructions to Prepare Besan Ladoo:**

Begin by heating a heavy-bottomed pan (*kadhai*) on low heat and adding the *desi ghee*. Once melted, incorporate the gram flour (*besan*) and roast it while stirring continuously.

As the gram flour cooks, it will start to release ghee and change to a light golden hue, which should take about 15 to 20 minutes.

When the gram flour is roasted and emits a pleasant aroma, sprinkle a little water over it using your hands.

This will create a frothy reaction and cause the granules to expand. Keep stirring until the water evaporates, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool on a plate.

Once the mixture has cooled down a bit, add the cardamom powder, chopped cashews, almonds, and *boora* (sugar). Lightly grease your palms with ghee and form small balls from the mixture by pressing them together.

Top each *laddu* with a pistachio and gently press it down. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, as this may cause the *laddus* to crumble.
