Discover the Unique Apple Murabba

You might have savored various kinds of *murabba* (fruit preserves), including those made from *amla* (Indian gooseberry) or *shrifal* (quince/bael). Today, we introduce you to a visually stunning and incredibly tasty *murabba*—the apple *murabba*. This delightful treat is simple to make, requiring little time and effort, and is both delicious and long-lasting. Let’s delve into the traditional recipe for this exquisite *murabba*.

Delicious Apple Murabba: A Traditional Delight from Ballia

Sonapati Gupta, who runs a popular pickle and *murabba* shop in Ballia district, known locally as "SP Gupta" and residing in Apayal village, shares that his apple *murabba* is in high demand. The preparation is quite straightforward: the apples are first peeled using a knife or peeler.

Quick Preparation in Just Two Hours
After peeling, the apples are cooked in a sugar syrup. The entire process takes only two hours. Once peeled, the apples are pricked all over to allow the syrup to soak in. Meanwhile, a sugar syrup is prepared; when it reaches a honey-like consistency, a small amount of alum (*fitkari*) is added. Once the syrup achieves the desired texture, the apples are added.

This *murabba* is available for customers at ₹240 per kilogram. Made from whole apples, it is as visually appealing as it is tasty. Additionally, it offers significant benefits for digestive health. There is a strong demand for this product from various regions. The shop features a diverse range of *murabbas* and pickles, a craft that the owner has perfected over years of experience.

Expanding Presence in the City
SP Gupta honed his skills in making *murabbas* and pickles while working at a company in Pratapgarh. After gaining experience, he opened his own shop and began producing them independently. The demand has surged to such an extent that multiple branches have been established throughout the city. In Ballia district, this shop, specializing in *murabba* and pickles, operates from four locations. The oldest branch, established 38 years ago, is located at the main square, adjacent to the Okdeganj police outpost.

Healthier Alternative to Sweets
One branch is situated in Jagdishpur, another directly in front of the *Nagar Panchayat* (municipal council) office, and the third is located within the District Magistrate (DM) office complex. It has been observed that these fruit-based *murabba* sweets are often superior to other types of confectionery. This Diwali, these *murabba* treats will not only provide a delightful sweetness for guests but also serve as a healthier option.
