Daboo Malik Celebrates Son Amaal's Success Amid Controversy

A Father's Pride Amid Challenges

Daboo Malik recently expressed heartfelt sentiments for his son, Amaal Mallik, a music composer, following the release of Awarapan 2 and the ensuing drama. He proudly acknowledged the film's success at the box office and its musical achievements, reflecting on the hurdles Amaal encountered during the project.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Daboo addressed the negativity that surrounded the film's music and Amaal's contributions.

He shared, "Messages were sent, calls were made, negativity was spread, judgments were passed... But sometimes, magic occurs against all odds..." Daboo also congratulated the entire team behind Awarapan 2, including Vishesh Bhatt, Nitin Kakkar, Vishesh Films, and Emraan Hashmi.

He emphasized the personal importance of the project for Amaal, who created the touching song "Yeh Awarapan", performed by Arijit Singh.

Previously, during a live Instagram session, Amaal dedicated the song and the film to his father's musical journey, making it especially significant for their family.

Referencing this dedication, Daboo remarked, "A Proud Father... A Son who dedicated YEH AWARAPAN to his father's journey..."

This celebratory note follows Amaal's public response to criticism regarding the song's release. After the track was launched, it received considerable online scrutiny and mixed reactions from fans who compared it to the original film's iconic music from 2007.

Amaal claimed that a coordinated "paid PR campaign" was orchestrated within the music industry to undermine his efforts.

In his recent Instagram Stories, he reshared a post discussing the ongoing controversy, stating, "Criticism is different from manufactured hate."

In light of the industry's backlash, the composer announced a temporary hiatus from film music, expressing the need to rejuvenate his mind, body, and spirit.

Amaal Mallik, son of composer Daboo Malik and nephew of music director Anu Malik, made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with Jai Ho, contributing three songs to the Salman Khan film.

Earlier in March 2025, Amaal shared an emotional statement on social media, declaring that he would be severing personal ties with his parents and maintaining only professional interactions.

He mentioned that his parents' actions and expectations had created emotional distance between him and his brother, Armaan. Struggling with clinical depression, Amaal expressed frustration over constant family comparisons and feeling undervalued despite his hard work.

He later deleted the post and reconciled with his family during the wedding festivities of his brother Armaan Malik and Aashna Shroff.

Amaal Mallik also participated in Bigg Boss 19, where he finished as the fourth runner-up in the Top 5 of the show, which concluded in December 2025.
