LPG Demand in Gujarat

Gujarat Meets LPG Demand
Officials reported on Monday that despite a spike in bookings due to panic caused by rumors, Gujarat successfully fulfilled its monthly demand of 6.8 million LPG cylinders in March. They assured that the supply of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas remains stable throughout the state.

During a state briefing, Sanjeev Kumar Behera, the State Head and Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), noted a significant rise in LPG demand last month, with 7.5 million bookings recorded. He stated, "There were no interruptions in distribution. The demand surged due to panic bookings and advance orders following rumors; however, supply was adequate to meet the state's needs."

He added that Gujarat has 1.27 crore active LPG connections, with 88 percent of bookings and 85 percent of deliveries confirmed through digital platforms.

The Oil Marketing Companies—Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited—operate a total of 5,133 retail outlets in the state, all of which maintain sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel, with ample reserves available at 17 supply depots.
