COVID-19 Cases Increase in Andhra Pradesh

A recent spike in coronavirus infections has raised alarms, particularly in South India. Andhra Pradesh, already grappling with 39 confirmed cases, has reported an additional 10 infections in the past day, bringing the total to 49. This situation has led to fears of a potential new wave of the virus.

As per a report, while the COVID-19 situation is escalating in Andhra Pradesh, there have also been cases noted in North India; however, fatalities have predominantly occurred in the southern region. The recent addition of 10 cases in Andhra Pradesh has heightened concerns among residents. The Health Department's latest bulletin confirms that the state's total case count has now reached 49.

Alarmingly, these new infections are distributed across various cities, indicating that the virus may be spreading beyond a single area and impacting multiple urban centers.

The bulletin details that the latest 10 cases include three from Guntur district, two from NTR district, and one each from Alluri Sitarama Raju, Eluru, Krishna, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam districts. To date, 302 suspected samples have been tested in the state, with 49 returning positive. East Godavari has the highest number of cases at 11, followed by Guntur (9), Kadapa (8), Visakhapatnam (5), and NTR (3). Kakinada, Eluru, and Bapatla have reported two cases each, while other districts have recorded one case each.

Current Recovery Status
Among the 49 COVID patients, 24 are hospitalized and receiving treatment, while 16 are in home isolation with mild symptoms. So far, five patients have successfully recovered and returned home, but unfortunately, four individuals have succumbed to the virus.

In response to the daily rise in cases, the administration is on high alert. The Health Department has intensified surveillance across various districts. Rapid Response Teams are actively monitoring patients and tracing contacts to identify and test those who may have been exposed. The department has confirmed that RT-PCR kits are readily available for testing. Hospitals are preparing extensively for COVID-19, establishing dedicated COVID beds and ensuring a sufficient supply of medicines, PPE kits, and other essential resources.
