Beetroot for lips
The star of this DIY is the beetroot. Anyone who has handled beetroot knows that they stain everything they come into contact with. So it makes sense to make a lip product out of it. Beetroot gives your lips a beautiful pink color and at the same time, clears lip pigmentation. All-natural, chemical-free and affordable – this is the ultimate lip makeup! Want to learn how to use it? Read on for clear and detailed instructions.
Step 1: Prepare the beetroot remains
Start by washing the beetroot thoroughly with water. Then, peel off the outer layer. Cut the beetroot into small slices and place them in a food processor. Grind the beetroot thoroughly until water remains.
Step 2: Store it
Carefully strain the juice from the grated beetroot, making sure that no bits and pieces remain. Immediately transfer it to a clean container to store it for future use. Here, I used an old lip balm case to store the tint. The container or jar you are using will need to be cleaned and sterilized. To make sure the case is clean, wipe off any residual product that may be present, rinse it thoroughly and sterilize it with rubbing alcohol.
Step 3: Add coconut oil
Add about a tablespoon of coconut oil to the beetroot coloring. If you are looking for sheer lip color, you can add a little more coconut oil. If you use less than a teaspoon of oil, the lip color formula will be dry and flaky on your lips. You can replace the coconut oil with honey or beeswax, as it works great for moisturizing the lips.
Now use a clean spoon or toothpick to blend the mixture well. Place the container in the refrigerator and wait until the coloring solidifies before using. Since this lip color is completely natural and free of preservatives, you will need to store it in the refrigerator to make it last longer.
