Kiss Goodbye to Dark Lips: Try This DIY Lip Scrub for Stunning Results
Are you bothered by black lips? People who smoke usually have black lips but that doesn't mean it's the only reason. Aging and/or overexposure to the sun can also cause darkening of the lips. Lip moisturization is an important part of skincare that we often overlook which can lead to darkening of lips over time. As they become dry and cracked, they tend to appear darker than normal. Pigmented lips look unsightly and are also painful. There is a two-step lip care routine that is required for soft, pink and plump lips: scrubbing and moisturizing. Scrub your lips first to get rid of layers of dead skin cells and then moisturize them to restore their natural pink glow.

Many beauty brands have lip scrubs but they are expensive and you don't want to spend a fortune on those little scrub bottles. We have a solution for you. Here's a DIY lip scrub to exfoliate lips and help them look rosier and plumper.
Homemade lip scrub
Ingredients:
- Brown sugar - 2 tbsp
- Lemon essential oil - 3-4 drops
- Cinnamon powder - 1 tbsp
- Honey - 1 tbsp
- Olive oil - 1 tbsp

In a bowl, first mix the dry ingredients (brown sugar and cinnamon powder). If you don't have cinnamon powder, you can prepare it by roasting cinnamon sticks and grinding them.
Now, add 3-4 drops of lemon essential oil to give the scrub a citrus scent. Also, lemons have high vitamin C and antioxidant content that are good for the skin.
Add olive oil and honey to the mixture and mix it all well for a thick scrub-like consistency.
Your homemade natural lip scrub is ready.
If you want, you can add other essential oils to improve the quality and increase the nutrition.
Transfer the scrub to a clean airtight jar and use it whenever you want to use it.
How to use lip scrub?
- Take some scrub in your fingers and apply it on your lips.
- Gently scrub your lips to remove only the dead cell layer.
- Wash it with cold water and pat dry.
- Now, apply a moisturizing lip balm to provide the required hydration.
- Note: The cinnamon powder used in this scrub can leave your lips feeling stingy.
