Ayesha Khan Detained During Student Protest Over NEET Controversy
Ayesha Khan's Arrest Amid Protests
On Wednesday, actress Ayesha Khan found herself in police custody while participating in a demonstration in Dadar, aimed at supporting student protests regarding the NEET paper leak issue, as shown in videos she posted on her Instagram account.
Khan, recognized for her performance in the series "Dhurandhar," clarified that she was not actively protesting but had arrived at the scene after her brother and male friends were detained. "I was taken into custody simply for standing peacefully on the road," she stated in one of her videos.
In another clip filmed after her transfer to Worli Police Station, Khan expressed her confusion over the reasons for her arrest, questioning why she was detained when she had not engaged in any disruptive behavior. She remarked that it took four policewomen to escort her into the van.
Other young demonstrators who were also detained echoed her sentiments. One student expressed concern in a video, stating that being unable to attend a scheduled exam due to the detention would lead to significant issues for him.
This incident is part of a larger series of student-led protests occurring in Delhi and Mumbai, which are focused on the alleged mismanagement of the NEET-UG examination process. Several Bollywood celebrities, including Sonakshi Sinha and Hrithik Roshan, have voiced their support for the student protesters and criticized the police's actions at the protest sites in recent days.
As of Wednesday evening, the Mumbai Police had not released any official comments regarding Khan's detention or the events leading up to it.
