Aamir Khan Dismisses 'Love Jihad' Claims Regarding Gauri Spratt
Aamir Khan Responds to Allegations
Aamir Khan has categorically dismissed the 'love jihad' claims linked to his relationship with Gauri Spratt, labeling the accusations as unfounded.
In a recent interview, the actor shared that Gauri practices Christianity and emphasized that neither of his previous spouses, Reena Dutta or Kiran Rao, converted to Islam during their marriages. He expressed concern over the misconceptions surrounding his personal life, asserting that the narrative being constructed is far from the truth.
His comments come in the wake of criticism from various political figures and religious leaders regarding his relationship with Gauri. Recently, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat became the second state minister, following BJP leader Nitesh Rane, to criticize Aamir, suggesting he could serve as a 'brand ambassador' for 'love jihad.'
The discourse surrounding the Bollywood star's personal life has also attracted attention from religious authorities. Maulana Ibrahim Hussain, the Shahi Chief Mufti of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, reportedly issued a fatwa against Aamir due to his marriage to Gauri, claiming that, according to his interpretation of Islamic law, a Muslim man is prohibited from marrying a non-Muslim woman. In a video that has circulated online, the cleric stated, 'Muslim mard ke liye, iman walon ke liye, gair Muslim se shaadi karna haraam hai,' asserting that such a union is sinful.
Aamir's response has sparked discussions on social media, with many commending him for addressing the rumors directly and striving to clarify the facts regarding his previous marriages and Gauri's religious background.
The actor reportedly tied the knot with wellness and beauty expert Gauri Spratt in a private ceremony at his residence in Pali Hill, Bandra, Mumbai, on July 5. Aamir was previously married to Reena Dutta from 1986 to 2002 and to filmmaker Kiran Rao from 2005 until their separation in 2021.
