IPL 2021: A further setback for Delhi Capitals, Akshar Patel Kovid-19 positive, performing in a Test series against England

The 14th edition of the IPL is scheduled to begin on 9 April and before that, a player has been exposed to the Coronavirus. According to the news, Akshar Patel, a Delhi Capitals player, has been infected with the Coronavirus. Delhi Capitals issued a statement on Saturday confirming that Akshar Patel has been infected with the Coronavirus.

Delhi Capitals reported, “He arrived at the team hotel in Mumbai on 28 March 2021. with a negative report of Kovid-19. His second report of Corona has come back positive. He has been sent to the medical facility on segregation. The medical team is in constant contact with Akshar. We wish him a speedy recovery. ”

As per the BCCI protocol for IPL 2021, Akshar has to isolate itself outside the bio-bubble. The left-arm spinner will be allowed to join his teammates only after conducting a negative test for Kovid-19.

According to the BCCI guidelines, Akshar will rest for the next 10 days and during this time he will not practice any exercises. Not only this, they will have to avoid any exercise. The doctors of the team will examine him regularly. If his condition worsens during his isolation, he will be immediately admitted to the hospital.

Let me tell you, Akshar Patel’s injury is a big blow for Delhi Capitals because this player had taken 27 wickets in three matches of the four-Test series against England recently. In such a situation, the franchisees hoped that they would pursue this form in the IPL this year.

Earlier, Shreyas Iyer suffered a shoulder injury in the first match of the three-match ODI series between India and England. Shreyer Iyer has been ruled out of the entire IPL season due to this injury. Delhi Capitals will start their camp this season against Chennai Super Kings on 10 April.
