Yograj Singh Critiques Selectors for Post-2011 World Cup Decisions

The Aftermath of India's 2011 World Cup Triumph
In the wake of India's 2011 World Cup victory, the team faced a challenging period marked by significant defeats, including a 0-4 loss in away Test series against England and Australia. These setbacks led to the exclusion of several prominent players from the squad.
Controversial Decisions by Selectors
The selectors contemplated removing MS Dhoni from his captaincy role, with former all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath being a key figure in the selection committee at that time. Reflecting on this situation, Yograj Singh, the father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has harshly criticized Amarnath and the selectors.
Yograj expressed his discontent, stating, "You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason. Players like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid were all affected after 2011." He further lamented, "The team was dismantled post-2011 World Cup, ruining the careers of seven players, which is why we faced struggles."
Yograj's Take on Dhoni's Captaincy
Yograj pointed out that during Dhoni's captaincy, the team lost five series, and there were discussions about replacing him with Mohinder Amarnath, which he deemed inappropriate.
Under MS Dhoni's leadership, India experienced remarkable success across all formats. He remains the only captain to have won three major ICC white-ball tournaments: the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. In Tests, Dhoni led the team in 60 matches, winning 27 and guiding India to the top of the ICC Test rankings in 2009. He also secured two Asia Cup titles for India in 2010 and 2016, achieving 110 wins in ODIs out of 199 matches and 41 victories in T20Is out of 72.
