What’s Next for the Strait of Hormuz? Military Leaders from 30 Nations Meet in London
International Military Collaboration for Strait Security
London: The United Kingdom and France are convening military strategists from approximately 30 nations to develop a comprehensive plan aimed at securing the Strait of Hormuz, contingent upon the reopening of this vital shipping lane.
According to the UK's Defence Ministry, the two-day conference taking place at a command-and-control facility in London is designed to transform diplomatic agreements into actionable military strategies.
The proposed initiative involves an international effort to safeguard commercial vessels, eliminate mines, and provide reassurance, contingent on achieving a 'sustainable' ceasefire in the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran.
Participating nations, including France and the UK, have committed to deploying naval vessels and mine-clearing drones.
Despite doubts regarding the feasibility of this initiative, British Defence Secretary John Healey expressed optimism on Wednesday, stating that he believes significant advancements can be made during the two-day meeting.
