Groundbreaking Ceremony for Kalinga Maritime Museum

In Bhubaneswar and Paradip, the Kalinga Maritime Museum's construction officially commenced on Friday, marking a significant step towards enhancing marine heritage preservation. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by PL Haranadh, the Chairman of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA), along with senior officials from both the PPA and the Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Limited (IPRCL).

This museum is designed to be a beacon of architectural innovation and climate resilience. Its distinctive fish-shaped design will face the ocean, optimizing natural wind flow for improved aerodynamic stability—crucial for a coastal setting. Built to withstand Odisha's diverse climate, the museum can endure temperatures ranging from 8°C to 45°C.

Moreover, it is engineered to resist cyclone-force winds of up to 280 km/h, ensuring the safety of both the structure and the valuable maritime artifacts it will display. This project represents a pivotal achievement for the Paradip Port Authority, underscoring its commitment to maritime heritage and the advancement of smart port infrastructure. The IPRCL is overseeing the project management for this ambitious initiative, which aims to become a prominent cultural and educational hub, celebrating Odisha's rich maritime history while symbolizing resilience and innovation.
