PM Modi Honored in Seychelles


Victoria (Seychelles): On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the honorary title of 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' from President Patrick Herminie during a ceremony in Victoria. This accolade marks Modi's 34th international recognition from a foreign government.


Expressing his gratitude, PM Modi dedicated this honor to nations actively combating climate change. He shared his appreciation on social media, stating, 'I am thankful to the people and Government of Seychelles, as well as President Herminie, for bestowing upon me the title of 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon.'


Modi emphasized the importance of environmental protection, saying, 'I humbly accept this honor and dedicate it to all countries facing the challenge of climate change, viewing environmental stewardship as a duty to future generations. This is a critical issue we must tackle collectively.'


He further asserted India's commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable planet, highlighting various domestic initiatives and global collaborations such as Mission LiFE, the International Solar Alliance, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.


Modi arrived in Seychelles on Saturday for a three-day visit, during which he will engage in discussions with President Herminie and participate as the Guest of Honour in the golden jubilee celebrations of Seychelles' National Day.


Additionally, at the Seychelles Coast Guard Base, Modi presented a 'Made in India' fast patrol vessel to enhance the country's maritime security capabilities, reinforcing New Delhi's dedication to supporting Seychelles.


Earlier this month, Modi was awarded Slovakia's highest civilian honor, The Order of the White Double Cross (First Class), in Bratislava.
