Washington: In a recent phone conversation, President Donald Trump revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his proposal for Russia to act as an intermediary regarding Iran's stockpile of 970 pounds of enriched uranium, which Trump insists must be relinquished by Tehran.

Trump recounted that Putin expressed a willingness to assist with the uranium issue, stating, "He told me he’d like to be involved with the enrichment – if he can help us get it." However, Trump emphasized his preference for Putin's involvement in resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, saying, "I’d much rather have you be involved with ending the war with Ukraine. To me, that would be more important."

In a related development, the Kremlin issued a warning about severe repercussions should military actions against Iran be reinstated.

During the call, Putin addressed the situation in Iran, with the Kremlin underscoring the potential "dire consequences" of renewed hostilities.
