Jaishankar Meets Xi Jinping in Beijing


Beijing: On Tuesday, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping alongside his fellow foreign ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).


In a post on social media, Jaishankar shared that he updated President Xi on the latest developments in the bilateral relationship between India and China.


Jaishankar arrived in China on Monday for a two-day visit aimed at participating in an SCO meeting. This marks his first trip to China since the significant deterioration in relations following the Galwan Valley clashes in June 2020.


Jaishankar tweeted, "Met with President Xi Jinping this morning in Beijing along with my fellow SCO Foreign Ministers."


He also conveyed greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, "I informed President Xi about the recent progress in our bilateral relations and appreciate the guidance from our leaders on this matter."
