Tragic Series of Attacks in Israel

On Sunday, a wave of violence swept through Israel's Arab community, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals due to a combination of shootings and car bombings. Dramatic footage emerged showing vehicles engulfed in flames following explosions in Jaffa and Holon, located near Tel Aviv. Authorities suspect that these violent acts are tied to organized crime and ongoing family disputes, raising the homicide toll in Israel's Arab community to a staggering 141 for the year, as reported by the Abraham Initiatives.

Father Killed, Son Injured in Jaffa Explosion

One of the most harrowing incidents took place in Jaffa, where a car exploded while transporting a man in his 40s and his six-year-old son. Emergency services declared the father dead at the scene, while the young boy sustained moderate burns and was taken to Wolfson Medical Center. Remarkably, the child managed to escape the burning vehicle before help arrived. Police are treating the explosion as a targeted attack linked to gang violence, possibly connected to a recent shooting of a teenager in the same area.

According to Tel Aviv District Police Chief Haim Sargarof, investigators believe that around half a kilogram of explosives was placed under the vehicle prior to the explosion, which occurred after the car had traveled approximately 100 meters.

Second Explosion Claims Life in Holon

Shortly after the Jaffa incident, another explosion occurred in Holon, resulting in the death of a man estimated to be in his 30s. First responders found him unconscious at the scene, and he was later pronounced dead. Authorities are currently working to identify the victim and determine if this incident is related to other organized crime activities.

Double Shooting in Qalansawe

Later in the morning, violence escalated in Qalansawe, where two men in their 40s were shot dead inside their vehicle. Surveillance footage showed two assailants arriving on a motorcycle and opening fire before fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made in connection with this shooting.

Fatal Shooting in Taibe

The violence began overnight in Taibe, where 19-year-old Bakhar Nuseirat was shot outside his home, resulting in another serious injury. Police indicated that this shooting was likely related to an ongoing family feud. Reports suggest that Nuseirat had previously been arrested in connection with a murder case but was released due to lack of evidence.

Escalating Violence in the Community

The Abraham Initiatives report indicates that 141 Arab citizens have been victims of homicide in Israel since the beginning of 2026, compared to 120 during the same timeframe last year. This trend suggests that 2026 may surpass 2025, which was the deadliest year for violent crime in Israel's Arab community, recording 252 homicide victims. Community leaders have criticized authorities for their inadequate response to organized crime, illegal firearms, and gang violence, placing blame on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for failing to address the rising death toll. Investigations into the recent attacks are ongoing, with police searching for suspects and exploring potential connections between the incidents.
