Caracas, July 6: The toll from the recent earthquakes in Venezuela has tragically increased to 3,342 fatalities, with 16,740 individuals reported injured, according to Jorge Rodriguez, the President of the National Assembly.

In a Telegram update on Sunday, Rodriguez noted that the number of individuals rescued stands at 6,462.

Official reports indicate that 17,345 people have been displaced due to the disasters, as reported by a news agency.

Since the occurrence of the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes on June 24, the country has experienced 995 aftershocks.

In response to the crisis, authorities have established 80 temporary shelters to aid those affected.

As of the latest update, 29,567 rescuers are actively searching for survivors, including 3,281 from international teams.


National Mourning and Support Initiatives

Delcy Rodriguez, the acting president of Venezuela, has declared a week of national mourning to honor the victims of the earthquakes that struck on June 24.

In a statement shared on social media, she expressed her condolences and commitment to support those affected by this tragedy.

Rodriguez remarked, "Venezuela's spirit is deeply wounded by the loss of life caused by these catastrophic earthquakes." Authorities have reported that many individuals remain unaccounted for.

In a show of international solidarity, Indian medical teams are providing humanitarian assistance to the earthquake victims through 'Operation Amistad'. Survivors have expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the medical care received at the Indian Army's Field Hospital.

Videos released by the Ministry of External Affairs showcase the gratitude of the Venezuelan people towards the Indian medical personnel for their support.

A mother, whose son is receiving treatment at the Army Field Hospital, conveyed her thanks to India and its healthcare professionals.

'Operation Amistad' was initiated by India to assist Venezuela in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that resulted in significant loss of life and destruction.
