Urban Development Initiatives in Keonjhar


In a recent visit to Keonjhar district, Usha Padhi, the Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Housing, along with the Commerce and Transport departments, was directed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to assess significant urban and transport initiatives.


Her tour commenced at Sponge Colony in Ward 9 of Keonjhar Municipality, where she examined persistent waterlogging and drainage challenges faced by the local residents.


Accompanied by officials from WATCO and the district administration, Padhi evaluated the issues and explored both engineering and administrative solutions.


She engaged with community members, promising them prompt action to address their concerns. Following this, she inspected the government and municipal bus terminals managed by the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation.


During her review, she assessed the facilities available for commuters, pinpointed infrastructure deficiencies, and held discussions with OSRTC managers and transport officials to tackle operational challenges.


Padhi later convened a meeting with the District Collector, Project Director of the District Urban Development Authority, and executive officers from all Urban Local Bodies to evaluate the status of various ongoing urban and transport projects.


With the monsoon season approaching, she urged officials to prioritize the resolution of drainage and waterlogging issues to minimize public inconvenience.


Padhi reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure development and upgrading public transport systems throughout the district.
