US Imposes Preliminary Anti-Dumping Duties on Indian Solar Imports: What You Need to Know
US Commerce Department Targets Indian Solar Products
New Delhi: The US Department of Commerce has revealed a preliminary anti-dumping duty on solar cells and panels imported from India.
The department stated, "In line with our established practices, we have provisionally assigned a dumping margin of 123.04 percent, as alleged in the Petition, to all other producers and exporters involved in this investigation."
Allegations suggest that Indian solar cells are being sold in the US market at prices lower than their fair value.
The notice from the department identifies four Indian manufacturers: Mundra Solar PV, Mundra Solar Energy, Kowa Company, and Premier Energy Photovoltaic.
These companies have an estimated weighted average dumping margin of 123.07 percent.
The final determination from the department is expected to be issued within 75 days following this preliminary announcement.
The department also noted, "Commerce preliminarily finds that critical circumstances exist for Mundra Solar Energy, Mundra Solar PV, Kowa, and Premier Energies, while such circumstances do not apply to other exporters and producers of the affected products."
In addition to India, similar investigations into the dumping of solar cells and modules are also underway for Laos and Indonesia.
