This past weekend, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) executed defensive strikes targeting Iranian radar and drone command facilities located in Goruk, Iran, and on Qeshm Island. CENTCOM, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, reported that these actions were a direct response to hostile Iranian maneuvers, including the downing of a US MQ-1 drone operating in international waters.

In a swift reaction, US fighter jets neutralized Iranian air defense systems, a ground control station, and two attack drones that posed significant risks to vessels navigating through the region. Fortunately, no American personnel were injured during these operations. CENTCOM reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding US interests and assets against Iranian provocations amid the ongoing ceasefire.

Earlier, the US military targeted a commercial ship in the Gulf of Oman, firing a Hellfire missile into its engine room. CENTCOM disclosed that the Gambia-flagged vessel, named Lian Star, was disabled after it attempted to approach an Iranian port, despite receiving over 20 warnings. Following the strike, the ship ceased its course towards Iran.

This incident follows President Donald Trump's announcement regarding the lifting of the naval blockade on Iranian ports, which had been in place for the previous month. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump indicated that vessels stranded near the Strait of Hormuz due to the blockade could now start returning home, hinting at a potential reduction in tensions in this crucial maritime area.
