US Central Command Launches Multinational Drone Task Force

Tampa (US) Aug 14: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the formation of its inaugural multi-domain, multinational drone task force.
Details of the New Task Force
As per CENTCOM's statement on X, the new unit will be named Task Force Falcon Strike. It will utilize one-way attack drones, incorporating unmanned systems that operate from above, on, and beneath the sea, with support from US military personnel and regional allies.
The establishment of Falcon Strike comes nine months after the launch of Task Force Scorpion Strike, which was the first dedicated one-way attack drone unit in the Middle East.
Achievements of Scorpion Strike
“Scorpion Strike reached significant operational milestones swiftly, including the historic launch of an aerial attack drone from a US Navy warship last December. The squadron also deployed one-way unmanned aerial systems during Operation Epic Fury and conducted strikes on Iranian port facilities in July using unmanned vessels,” the statement highlighted.
Future Prospects with Falcon Strike
Adm. Brad Cooper, the CENTCOM commander, remarked, “Task Force Falcon Strike will build upon the achievements of Scorpion Strike, leveraging the remarkable innovations from our regional partners. By integrating and deploying our advanced capabilities together, we can swiftly explore new opportunities.”
CENTCOM has begun consultations and is officially inviting regional partners to join the task force.
Strengthening Regional Partnerships
“As regional partners formally come on board, Task Force Falcon Strike will enhance drone attack capabilities across the Middle East, creating a cohesive multi-domain, multinational deterrent,” the statement emphasized.
Cooper added, “The US military has robust partnerships in the region. We are more effective when we collaborate and deploy new capabilities together.”
Leadership and Operations
Personnel from the US Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), which initiated Scorpion Strike, will oversee Falcon Strike, comprising US and regional representatives.
SOCCENT, based at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, is responsible for planning and executing special operations across CENTCOM’s 21-country jurisdiction in the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.
