The Russian military has intensified its efforts to breach Ukrainian defenses, potentially signaling the onset of a long-anticipated spring ground offensive.

In a notable surge, nearly 400 long-range drones were launched at Ukraine overnight, marking the largest assault in recent weeks, with Kyiv being targeted during daylight hours.

Additionally, Russia deployed 23 cruise missiles and seven ballistic missiles, striking at least ten locations throughout Ukraine.

Since the onset of the full-scale invasion over four years ago, Ukrainian civilians have faced continuous bombardments.

Russia's Front-Line Assaults Intensify

On the extensive 1,250-kilometer front line stretching across eastern and southern Ukraine, defenders are preparing for a renewed offensive as weather conditions improve.

General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's armed forces, reported that Russian troops have recently attempted to breach defensive lines in multiple strategic locations.

Syrskyi noted on Telegram that fierce clashes have erupted along the entire contact line, with Russia launching 619 attacks over a span of four days.

He indicated that the occupiers are mobilizing new units and gearing up for continued assaults, while Ukraine has reinforced its positions to counter these attacks.

Ukrainian Soldier Describes Tense Conditions

A Ukrainian soldier stationed near Lyman in the eastern Donetsk region, a key target for Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported that while Russian forces have intensified their attacks, they have not succeeded in breaking through Ukrainian defenses.

The soldier, who identified himself only as King, explained that Russian troops initially aimed to isolate Lyman by targeting supply routes before escalating their offensive.

Ukrainian forces successfully repelled initial assaults, inflicting heavy losses on advancing Russian units.

In retaliation, Russian forces have increased aerial bombardments on the town, employing powerful glide bombs, though the soldier assessed the situation as tense but manageable.

Ukraine Leverages Drone Technology

To compensate for a shortage of infantry, Ukraine has advanced its drone technology significantly.

In light of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Kyiv is offering its battle-tested drone capabilities to the US and Gulf partners, seeking to exchange this expertise for much-needed Patriot air defense missiles.

Moreover, Ukraine has utilized its domestically produced long-range drones to target areas in Russia that support the war effort. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 55 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight over Russian territories, including Crimea and the Black Sea.
