During a speech at Mount Rushmore over the Fourth of July weekend, US President Donald Trump once again brought up the Nobel Peace Prize, expressing his belief that he deserved the accolade due to his diplomatic efforts. While discussing what he termed "American exceptionalism," Trump highlighted various achievements of the United States, including its record in Olympic medals and Nobel Prizes. He remarked, "Americans have won the most Olympic medals of any country in the world by far, the most Nobel Prizes," before adding, "Well, they haven't given me one." Throughout his second term, Trump has often mentioned the Nobel Peace Prize, asserting that his foreign policy accomplishments warrant recognition. He stated, "Settled eight wars. I still haven't gotten it, but that's OK."

Trump's claim of settling eight wars contrasts with a previous statement he made in April on Truth Social, where he claimed to have "solved 9 Wars across the World" and was aiming for a tenth. He wrote, "It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th, so let's, GET IT DONE!" However, the US State Department has only acknowledged eight conflicts. Trump has often credited his administration with facilitating agreements involving various nations, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, Cambodia and Thailand, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo, and Israel and Hamas. The effectiveness and sustainability of these agreements are still debated, as many of the conflicts continue to experience significant political and security issues. In December, FIFA awarded Trump what it termed a "peace prize" in anticipation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado publicly offered Trump her Nobel Peace Prize, commending his diplomatic initiatives. Trump responded to her gesture by saying, "She is a wonderful woman who has been through so much. María presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you María!"
