Trump Lauds Israel as a Key Ally Amid Rising Tensions with Iran
Trump's Support for Israel
Washington: Former President Donald Trump has expressed strong support for Israel, calling it a "remarkable ally of the United States" and commending the nation for its "bravery" and "dedication" as tensions with Iran escalate.
In a recent post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized that Israel has consistently stood by the US during challenging times, stating, "Unlike others, they continue to fight fiercely."
He remarked, "Regardless of public opinion, Israel has demonstrated its value as a steadfast ally. They are brave, intelligent, and loyal, and unlike others who reveal their true nature in times of crisis, Israel knows how to win!"
These comments followed a warning from Trump to Israel regarding potential military actions against Lebanon, where he stated, "Enough is enough."
On another front, Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) declared its intent to maintain oversight of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz until a definitive peace is established in the region.
This announcement, reported by Iranian media, came after Iran's military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, indicated a return to stringent control over the Strait, citing ongoing US naval blockades.
The SNSC outlined its plans to regulate the strait by requiring vessel information, issuing passage permits, and charging fees for security and environmental services, all while adhering to wartime protocols, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
They warned that any attempts by adversaries to disrupt vessel transit through the strait, including imposing a naval blockade, would be viewed as violations of the current ceasefire, which is set for two weeks.
The SNSC also highlighted that a significant portion of the equipment for US bases in West Asia is transported through the Strait of Hormuz, which they claim poses a threat to both Iranian and regional security.
