Trump Labels Iran as Challenging and Threatening Amid Ongoing Negotiations
US-Iran Negotiations Intensify
During the latest discussions between the United States and Iran, President Donald Trump characterized Iran as "very difficult" and "very dangerous." The third round of these negotiations occurred in Geneva on Thursday, with another session planned for today. Speaking at an event in Texas, Trump emphasized that the US is facing a "significant decision" regarding its dealings with Iran, insisting that any agreement must be "meaningful." He remarked, "We struck them hard with our advanced B2 bombers and recently diminished their nuclear capabilities. However, I prefer a peaceful resolution, even though they are quite challenging. They are indeed dangerous and difficult to deal with," he stated.
Trump further elaborated, "For 47 years, they have been responsible for violence, causing injuries and fatalities. They have attacked ships and harmed many, including Americans." When asked about the current state of negotiations, he mentioned, "We haven't reached a final conclusion regarding Iran. Their negotiation tactics are not satisfactory. They must not possess nuclear weapons, and we are not pleased with their approach. We will see how things unfold." Regarding the potential for regime change in Iran following US military action, he commented, "It's uncertain. It could happen, or it might not. Ideally, we would prefer to avoid military intervention, but sometimes it becomes necessary. Our military is the strongest in the world, and I would prefer not to deploy it..."
When questioned about the risk of a US strike on Iran escalating into a broader conflict in the Middle East, Trump acknowledged, "There is always a risk... It would be ideal if they could negotiate sincerely and ethically. However, they are not progressing in that direction..."
