Trump Emphasizes Need for Permanent Measures Against Iran Threat

Trump's Stance on Iran and Military Strategy

President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States' military actions against Iran are ongoing, asserting that the damage inflicted must be made 'more permanent' to prevent future threats from the nation. He stated, 'We could leave today, and it would take 10 years to rebuild the damage that’s been done,' during a recent address at the White House. Trump emphasized the importance of ensuring that no future president faces similar challenges, aiming to eliminate the potential for Iran to develop nuclear capabilities. 'We can’t have lunatics controlling nuclear weaponry,' he remarked.

Trump characterized the military efforts as favorable for the U.S., claiming that recent strikes have significantly diminished Iran's military strength. 'The war is proceeding very well. We’re doing very, very well,' he noted, adding that the outcomes of recent operations exceeded expectations.

He also claimed that Iran was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons prior to the U.S. strikes, stating, 'They were two weeks away. There would have been no talking at all; they would have used it very gladly.'

Despite his aggressive rhetoric, Trump did not provide a specific timeline for U.S. withdrawal from the conflict. 'We’re not ready to leave yet, but we will be leaving in the very near future,' he mentioned, referring to the situation as a 'little excursion' expected to last only 'a couple of weeks.'

Additionally, Trump expressed uncertainty regarding Iran's leadership following recent attacks on key figures, stating, 'We don’t know who to deal with.'

Trump also criticized NATO allies for not supporting U.S. efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping route, stating, 'NATO is making a very foolish mistake.' He dismissed fears of a prolonged conflict, contrasting it with the Vietnam War, and asserted, 'I’m really not afraid of anything.' His comments come as the ongoing conflict continues to influence U.S. foreign policy, even delaying his scheduled meeting with Xi Jinping.
