Tragic Fire Claims 27 Lives at Bangkok Bar

Devastating Blaze in Bangkok

In a tragic incident early Monday morning, a significant fire erupted at a popular bar in Bangkok, Thailand, resulting in the deaths of at least 27 individuals, as reported by local authorities. The fire occurred in the Chatuchak district, a well-known entertainment area. Firefighters managed to control the flames after approximately 35 minutes, according to reports.

Many victims perished while trying to escape through the pub's restroom during the chaos. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the site and confirmed the death toll, noting that over 20 people sustained serious injuries.

Possible Cause of the Fire

According to Anutin, a musician performing at the venue reported seeing smoke emanating from a circuit breaker near the stage just before the power failed. Following this, an explosion occurred, rapidly filling the establishment with thick smoke. Singer Sukanya Wongwongwai, who was nearby, rushed to the scene upon hearing about the fire, as several of her band members were performing there. Tragically, one of them lost their life, while three others were hospitalized, and one remains unaccounted for.

Witnesses inside the bar described a scene of panic as the fire broke out, plunging the venue into darkness and filling it with smoke, making it difficult for people to find each other. Videos shared by first responders captured the intense flames and smoke billowing from the Na Ladprao pub, with individuals attempting to escape the inferno. Images from the aftermath reveal charred furniture and extensive damage within the bar, with many victims discovered in the restrooms at the back.
