Seoul, June 1: A devastating explosion occurred at the Hanwha Aerospace factory located in Daejeon, South Korea, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals and injuries to two others, as reported by local officials.

The explosion was reported to authorities at 10:59 a.m., prompting an immediate response to ascertain the full extent of the casualties.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to combat the flames that erupted following the explosion, according to reports from a local news agency.

Initial investigations by police and fire officials suggest that the blast originated on the factory's first floor, with a thorough inquiry planned once the fire is under control.

Authorities confirmed the fatalities and injuries at the Hanwha Aerospace plant, recognized as South Korea's premier aerospace and defense manufacturer.

Fire officials initiated a level-1 emergency response at approximately 11:17 a.m. local time to manage the situation.

In response to the incident, South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok has ordered the comprehensive mobilization of resources and personnel for rescue operations at the Hanwha Aerospace site.

Prime Minister Kim expressed concerns about potential additional casualties and directed various government agencies, including the interior ministry and fire department, to deploy all necessary equipment and personnel for firefighting and victim rescue efforts.

He also called for collaboration from the labor ministry, science ministry, aerospace agency, and other relevant bodies to support the ongoing rescue operations.
