Deadly Assault in Kaduna

In a devastating incident early Monday, armed assailants attacked a village in Nigeria's northwestern Kaduna state, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 individuals, according to two local residents. Ishaya Dawa, a youth leader from the area, reported that the attackers invaded Naridon village in the Kauru local government area around midnight, indiscriminately firing at residents and setting homes ablaze.

Among the deceased were eight children, and four others suffered injuries during the assault. Dawa noted that many of the victims were women, children, and the elderly, with several bodies transported to the local mortuary. The violence in this region has escalated, with armed gangs frequently targeting communities in deadly raids.

While no group has claimed responsibility for this particular attack, the northeast of Nigeria continues to grapple with a severe insurgency led by Boko Haram and its offshoot, ISWAP. Security forces reportedly arrived at the scene hours after the violence unfolded, and Kaduna State police spokesperson Mansur Hassan indicated that further details would be released shortly.
