Unexpected Delay in ODI Match Toss

On June 3, a surprising incident unfolded in cricket history that left fans astonished. The final match of the three-match ODI series between England and the West Indies took place at The Oval in London on this date. However, the toss was delayed by 40 minutes due to a traffic jam.

The reason for the toss delay was not wet outfield or rain, but rather a traffic jam. The West Indies team got stuck in London traffic and could not arrive at the stadium in time for the toss. Players from the West Indies were caught in heavy traffic in the northern part of the Thames River. To avoid being late, some England players opted to ride bicycles and reached the stadium ahead of schedule. Players like Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Jos Buttler, and Matthew Potts left their team bus and used Lime bikes to get to the venue.

England had already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series by winning the first two matches. The opening match was held on May 29 in Birmingham, where the home team triumphed by 238 runs, followed by a three-wicket victory in the second ODI on June 1 in Leeds.
