Ted Ginn Jr.'s Arrest Details

Ted Ginn Jr. faced a challenging weekend, not due to events on the football field. The former NFL wide receiver, who is currently the head coach of the UFL's Columbus Aviators, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Tarrant County, Texas, early Saturday morning. A representative from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office reported that Ginn was stopped around 12:58 a.m. for allegedly failing to yield during a turn. Following the stop, officers conducted a field sobriety test.

He was booked into the county jail at approximately 3:30 p.m. and subsequently released on a $1,000 bond. A passenger was present in the vehicle but was not arrested. This incident occurred just hours before Ginn was set to coach the Aviators in a Sunday game against the Dallas Renegades. UFL president and CEO Russ Brandon confirmed that Columbus offensive coordinator Todd Haley would step in as head coach for the game, according to a report from a media outlet. Ironically, Sunday also marked Ginn's 41st birthday.

Ginn Acknowledges His Mistake

Ginn Takes Responsibility

Ginn openly addressed the situation, taking full responsibility for his actions in a statement shared on X. He expressed, "I want to address the situation that took place over the weekend. I made a serious mistake and take full responsibility for my actions. I've always believed in accountability, and now it's my turn to live that standard." He recognized the importance of his role as a leader and role model, stating that he does not take lightly the responsibility that comes with it. Ginn emphasized his commitment to regaining the trust of his players, the organization, and the fans, while also expressing gratitude for the support from his family and the UFL.

Ginn's NFL Career Overview

A Long NFL Career

Ginn's professional football career began when he was selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Over the course of fourteen seasons, he played for six teams: the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears. He concluded his playing career with a total of 42 touchdowns and participated in two Super Bowls with the Panthers and 49ers, though he did not secure a championship ring. After retiring from playing, Ginn transitioned into coaching and eventually became the head coach of the Columbus Aviators in the UFL.
