On Saturday, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana etched her name in history by becoming the first female player from India to score centuries across all formats of international cricket.
This remarkable milestone was achieved during the first T20I of a five-match series against England, held in Nottingham. Mandhana showcased her prowess by scoring 112 runs off just 62 deliveries, hitting 15 boundaries and three sixes, achieving a strike rate of 180.65.
Joining an Elite Group
Mandhana is now among an exclusive group of only five players globally who have accomplished the feat of scoring centuries in all formats of women's cricket. The other notable players include England's Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont, South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt, and Australia's Beth Mooney. Notably, her captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who is sidelined due to a head injury, is the only other Indian woman to have scored a T20I fifty.
