A shooting incident occurred on Thursday night in the Cane Bay area of Summerville, South Carolina, resulting in several injuries. Emergency dispatch reports and local officials confirmed that the event took place near a Publix supermarket and a McDonald's.


According to Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis, deputies were dispatched to the Publix, where the shooting reportedly unfolded inside the store, involving multiple individuals. Authorities responded to the location at 1724 State Road, where at least three victims were found with gunshot wounds. One individual was discovered in the Publix parking lot with leg injuries, while another victim sustained wounds to the arm and leg near the McDonald's. A third victim was also located in the parking lot.


The suspected shooter is believed to have fled the scene on foot towards a nearby elementary school as law enforcement arrived. The sheriff's office confirmed that there were injuries but did not disclose the exact number of affected individuals.
