Shooting Incident at Turkish High School Leaves Multiple Injured

A tragic shooting occurred at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School located in Siverek, resulting in injuries to at least 16 individuals. Reports indicate that a 17-year-old former student entered the school grounds armed with a pump-action shotgun, opening fire indiscriminately in the yard before proceeding inside the building. The incident took place in the Hasan Celebi neighborhood, causing panic among students and staff as emergency responders arrived swiftly.

Authorities have confirmed that the majority of those injured were students, with additional casualties including teachers, a police officer, and a staff member from the school canteen.

Identifying the Attacker

Hasan Sildak, a local official, has identified the shooter as a former student born in 2007. Preliminary reports suggest that the assailant may have had a prior conflict with another student, although the precise motive for the attack is still being investigated. Victims were promptly taken to nearby medical facilities, including Siverek State Hospital, where they are currently receiving care. While some injuries are reported to be serious, there have been no fatalities among the victims thus far. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as the shooter fired both outdoors and within the school.
