Tragic Impact of Storm in Karachi


On Wednesday, Karachi experienced devastating weather conditions, resulting in the deaths of at least 21 individuals. Strong winds and heavy rainfall led to numerous incidents throughout the city, causing the collapse of walls, rooftops, and trees, as reported by local officials. Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 confirmed that the number of fatalities due to weather-related accidents has reached 21, with ongoing efforts for debris clearance and search operations, according to reports from various news outlets.


The Pakistan Meteorological Department indicated that wind speeds soared to 97 km/h in certain regions, cautioning that unstable weather may continue. The area most affected was Moach Goth in Baldia Town, where 13 fatalities occurred when a wall fell down. Many victims had sought refuge near the wall from the rain.




Additional tragic incidents were reported throughout Karachi. In Korangi No. 3, a woman named Sheeta lost her life when her roof collapsed. In Memon Goth, a man named Hazrat was electrocuted. A four-year-old girl died when a wall fell at her home in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and in Neelam Colony, a woman was killed when a tree crashed onto her house.
